FAQ

What is Osteoporosis?

Osteoporosis is a disorder that is characterized by abnormally porous bones due to a deficiency of calcium and vitamin D. An estimated 10 million people in the U.S. alone suffer from osteoporosis and most cases occur in Caucasian females over the age of 50. Those diagnosed with osteoporosis are subject to vertebral and hip fractures, as well as loss of height and chronic back pain.

What is Carpal Tunnel Syndrome?

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome occurs when the median nerve, the nerve running through the carpal tunnel, or center of the wrist, is damaged. It is common amongst those who frequently work with their hands such as office workers, hairdressers, painters, musicians, and cashiers. Symptoms include pain, numbness, tingling, and swelling in the wrist and hands.

What is a Herniated Disc?

The human spine is comprised of a total of 23 rubber- like disks which act as shock absorbers between the vertebrae, or bones that make up the spine. The disks consist of a soft center (nucleus) surrounded by a tougher exterior (annulus). A herniated disk occurs when a portion of the nucleus pushes through a crack in the annulus. Symptoms may occur if the herniation compresses a nerve. Proper motion and alignment of the vertebrae help to keep the disks healthy.

What is a Pinched Nerve?

A pinched nerve is simply another way to say a irritated nerve. A pinched nerve can occur in a person’s neck, back, and arms, as well as many other places in the body.

What is Sciatica?

The sciatic nerve runs from the base of your spine down the length of your leg. Sciatica is a term used to describe the symptoms that occur when the sciatic nerve is irritated, pinched, or damaged. Symptoms of sciatica commonly include numbness, weakness or a tingling sensation in the calves, thighs, buttocks, and lower back.

What is Arthritis?

Inflammation of one or more joints, causing pain and stiffness that can worsen with age. Gentle chiropractic adjustments can help reduce pain, restore motion and slow down the progression of osteoarthritis.
