About Us

Dr. Suzanne M. Santjer

Dr. Suzanne Santjer began practicing chiropractic in Sayville NY in 1989 and has been in Chesapeake since 1990. She followed in her father’s footsteps and graduated from Southern California University of Health Sciences where she earned her Doctor of Chiropractic degree. Dr Santjer specializes in the Activator Method Chiropractic Technique and received her advanced proficiency rating in 1997. She is board certified by the Virginia Department of Health Professions and is a member of the Virginia Chiropractic Association and the American Chiropractic Association. Dr. Santjer has a son, Matthew, and two daughters, Christina and Melissa. In her spare time she enjoys horseback riding and gardening.

Dr. Santjer takes a “whole person” approach to chiropractic care, which means looking for the underlying causes of disease, dysfunction and pain, as opposed to just treating the symptoms. Many seemingly unrelated symptoms often arise from imbalances in the spinal column and Dr. Santjer looks for the root of the pain and creates a personalized chiropractic and wellness plan to suit each patient’s individual needs.

Joey - Office Manager

Are you nervous about seeing a chiropractor for the first time?

All the treatment at our office is comfortable and relaxing and we strive to make your visits here as pleasant as possible. Before Dr. Santjer does a spinal analysis, she takes the time to learn about you: the history of your injury or condition, the nature of your pain, and what you wish to accomplish with us. After the spinal analysis, Dr. Santjer will let you know if chiropractic care is right for you and if not, she will refer you to the appropriate doctor for your condition. If there is a good fit, she will develop a plan of chiropractic care that is specific to your condition and health goals. The doctor will give you a thorough explanation of the science behind how chiropractic care works and what it will take to get you better.

There are several different chiropractic adjusting techniques which are all safe and effective. For those patients that do not wish to experience the “popping” sensation as with a manual manipulation, the Activator Method is the perfect option. The activator adjusting instrument feels like a “tapping” sensation on the joint as it gently restores motion and alignment. You may feel some mild tenderness in regions that are tight and sore, but that is all! Your comfort is our top priority.
